The Port Credit BIA is pleased to partner with Mississauga Arts Council and announce a call for artists to participate in a Public Art Mural.

Request for Proposals

5 artists will be selected for 5 unique panels to design Public Art Murals on Port Credit as an Urban Village. Vibrant abstract, contemporary murals that capture 5 different themes “Farmer’s Market, Musical Instruments, Canada Proud, Artist in Studio, Future in Abstract” will be created and printed on vinyl for installation.

Artist Eligibility

This is open to professional artist(s), Artist-led teams with a connection to Mississauga.

Project Description

To include elements of past, current and future events that take place in Port Credit, with a focus on events that are held in the Elmwood Parking lot space. The lot currently has a beautiful blank canvas located on the East Side of our village. We encourage using abstract, modern, fresh, contemporary, elements that bring the uniqueness of our Urban Village to life. A reference to Graffiti Alley in Toronto is to be considered when designing the concept.

  • Future in Abstract

*5th panel will have Port Credit and MAC sponsor logos bottom right panel *5th panel includes 204” w x 56.5” LCBO box sign please design around the parameter

Panel parameter for each artist includes 168” H x 199” W. | 218.50 sq. ft. Each commissioned artist will receive $2,500 + HST.

Proposal Deadline: April 29, 2021, at 5 PM EST

 

Art Location Description: 200 Lakeshore Rd. East. southwest facing. 1311 sq. ft. wall LCBO store, exclude external lights and LCBO store sign of 204” w x 56.5”

1. Artwork Design Parameters

Design Dimensions: 168” H x 199” W

Before beginning your design, process or submitting your print-ready artwork please ensure that your file submissions comply with the requirements below.

Accepted file formats:

– RASTER IMAGES: .jpg, .png , .bmp, .tiff, .psd, photoshop .pdf

– VECTOR IMAGES: .pdf , .ai , .eps , preflighted InDesign files.

Colours: Must be Pantone (PMS) or CMYK.

Required Bleed: include 1” bleed.

Font: All fonts must be outlined, or the font file must be provided separately.

Images and Photos: All images/photos must be embedded in the artwork or provided as separate raster image file.

Raster Image Resolution: Resolution must be a minimum of 150 to 300 dpi at the required print size.

2. Artist Application Requirements

Statement of interest 200 words please include:

  • Your approach to public art and murals similar projects
  • Experience with collaborative art projects
  • What you would bring to the project
  • Sources of inspiration to the approach of the project

Visual support materials:

  • Up to three works past and present

References
